Dematic Corp. has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer within our Lifecycle Services and Solutions – Modernizations & Upgrades organization. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of two years of experience in network design, along with domain expertise in material handling and industrial automation environments. The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of network architectures across Dematic’s projects. This role provides technical leadership and guidance to project teams in the design and implementation of large-scale data communication networks. Key responsibilities include defining configuration and installation standards for LAN and WAN environments, leveraging switching, routing, and network monitoring technologies. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, scalability, and reliability across deployed solutions. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $64,000 - $116,400 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. This Is What You Will Do in This Role Support the design, specification, and configuration of networks for SCADA, PLC, and industrial automation systems. Assist in documenting network segmentation strategies. Contribute to cybersecurity design efforts by following established standards and best practices. Review network design drawings and support validation for accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with senior engineers to support Operational Technology (OT) network design activities and project teams. Assist with network equipment configuration, including physical interfaces, communication protocols, IP addressing, VLAN setup, and firewall rule documentation. Support the implementation of OT network architectures to help ensure reliable and secure system performance. Troubleshoot network devices and infrastructure issues with guidance from more experienced team members. Contribute to the development of network solutions for new projects by reviewing system designs and RFQ requirements. Maintain and grow technical knowledge of industry technologies, standards, and best practices through training, certifications, and hands‑on experience. What We Are Looking For Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Foundational understanding of industrial plant‑floor network infrastructure, with awareness of differences between IT and OT environments. Basic knowledge of industrial automation concepts and systems. Understanding of networking fundamentals, including routers, switches, and VLANs. Familiarity with firewalls and basic cybersecurity principles. Exposure to Industrial DMZ concepts is a plus. Experience or coursework involving IoT‑connected devices or industrial systems is preferred. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC) is a plus. Entry‑level certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA or similar) or progress toward certification is preferred. Core Competencies Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with guidance. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to learn to present technical concepts clearly. Ability to support network audits and contribute to recommendations for system improvements. Collaborative team player who is eager to learn and contribute to team success. Willingness to learn and participate in presentations of network standards and best practices.
